Thanks to the generous support of our many friends we are able to maintain the collection, Schermerhorn Row, the historic fleet of ships, and continue to provide insightful programming and temporary exhibitions.  This support also enables the Museum to teach our visitors about the rich history of the port of New York and its seminole role in the development of this City, State and Nation.


The Museum relies on the generosity of its friends and supporters to meet the cost of its endeavors. As we work to build a better South Street Seaport Museum, your support is more important than ever. There are many ways to give to the Museum but here are the best ways you can give: Membership, Year End Gifts, Planned Giving, Gifts from Corporations, Gifts from Foundations, Sponsorships, Corporate Memberships, and Benefit Event Tickets.

Membership Gifts from Individuals
When you become a member of the South Street Seaport Museum, you’ll receive a whole range of benefits, including free admission to the ships and galleries, discounts on events and invitations to special members-only events. Plus you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that you’re helping to preserve and share the unique history and culture of the port of New York.
Sponsorship
You can help us to serve families, students, and educators as well as New York City residents and tourists each year by sponsoring an exhibition, program or event at the Museum.
Private Rentals

The Museum offers an array of private rental spaces in our galleries, on Pier 16 or aboard our tall ship Peking.
Volunteering and Interning
Volunteer efforts are essential to the operations of the Museum – its ships, galleries and offices are greatly assisted by volunteers. As a volunteer, you are part of a team led by Museum staff that work together and enable the Museum to achieve its mission goals. Your contributions, enthusiasm and commitment are important to the museum. Volunteer opportunities vary but each volunteer makes a valuable contribution to the whole organization.
